When you just have to wait.

Sometimes we just gotta be still and know.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

The truth is: we don’t know nothing. I know my english isn’t proper but isn’t it truth! We don’t know what’s going on. We don’t know what’s gonna happen. When we can’t seem to get a word, we can’t figure it out. When all of heaven seems silent. We just don’t know what to do. That might not be when we need to dig in more, that might be when we need to be still. One thing we can know is that God is God and He knows all.

I got a glimpse of an eagle a couple weeks ago and it was the coolest treat, as God knows that I love eagles and what they represent. He showed me last week that those that WAIT on the Lord, shall be renewed. Not those that work. Not those that strive. Not those that try harder. Not those that dig deeper. Those that wait. Yes, there’s a time to work, plow, sow and harvest. Yes, there’s a time to seek and find. But in the midst of that sowing and reaping, there’s also a crucial time to wait when you and I see nothing going on. That’s where I’m at. Yeah, I can see things going on. A lot of things I don’t like. A lot of things I don’t understand, but one thing I can be confident of: He’s never gonna fall off His throne. Even when I can’t see Him, He’s there and even when I don’t see the evidence, I can believe He’s still working. As long as I’m alive, I have hope.

I know you’re tired of waiting but wait. It’s the only way to renew. We reap unless we faint.

I like to try to figure things out but some things I just can’t! Maybe I need to just settle down and be still and know that I’m not God but that He is. I play a horrible God. Im not God of my life, He is. But unless I’m letting Him guide, then I still got a hold on the wheel. Sometimes we just gotta let go. Let God be God.

Maybe it’s a short season or window where I am not supposed to do anything but wait and watch. Being still is hard! I just had surgery and it’s easy to rest for the first couple of days but after that when you want to resume back to your normal activities but can’t, it’s frustrating. But that doesn’t mean healing isn’t still taking place! Man, I love it when I open the word of God and instantly He shows me His word! It’s like medicine and salve for the soul. But what about when He shows me nothing? Oh no! I don’t like that and it seems like the more I search, the less I find. But didn’t He say to seek Him with my whole heart and I’d find Him? Yes! But He also says to be still and know that He is God. We must learn to discern what season we are in and the fact is, He did give me a word. Maybe I just don’t like being still.

What is He doing while I’m waiting? I don’t know but I have to trust that He does and He knows me better than I know myself. He can do things that I can’t. He has the master plan and says that He works all things out for good to those that love Him and are called according to His purpose. Well, I do love Him and I surely want to walk according to His plan because I know His plans stand when mine fail, every time. I know that He wants to give me the desires of my heart in due time. That due time will get you every time if you’re not willing to wait. Everything has an appointment date as well as an expiration date. Think about it, when one thing ends another begins. This is a season and seasons come with transitions, that’s the good news. Also, we see closed doors as just that, but God sees them as opportunities. We only need to be worried about the doors we’re not willing to walk through.

When one door closes another opens. When He closes a door, He can open a window but I heard it preached like this once and it changed my point of view: “EVERY EXIT IS AN ENTRANCE.” Every exit is an entrance into something else and isn’t it true. I want to be in Gods will and I want to be in the right doors because many times I’ve found that He’s not behind every door. That’s why it’s important to wait. We see the quotes that we can praise Him in the hallway when we don’t see another door to walk through.

I don’t know what season of life you’re in right now, but He does! I was reminded by another ladies post this morning to “be still” again! She was talking about pouring oil out of a bottle and shaking it and how it just wouldn’t come out. The bottle wasn’t intended to be shaken. She wasn’t using it properly. It was meant to be held upside down and it would pour out on its own. Maybe God is trying to use us but we’re too shaken up to see it, and we’re going against the grain. We just need to be still.

She also used the example of the fisherman in the boat in Luke 5 and oh how I can relate. “I’ve toiled all night God. I’ve been out here trying. I’ve been seeking. I’ve been trying different things and nothings working out. I’ve been easy, I’ve been hard. I’ve tried this way and that way. I’ve casted the net all night long and still caught nothing. It seems like I’ve ran out of luck or lost the touch and I’ve done nothing right. I try right but all I get is wrong.” Wrong! That’s when Jesus steps in. “Let me show you how to do it right now, not just what you’re doing wrong.” He is Teacher and He always comes to teach us and show us how, never to leave us alone. Sometimes He lets us alone so we will come to the end of ourselves and follow Him and His way. It’s ok. It’s part of the lesson. We just got to be still long enough to wait and listen. We can’t listen if we can’t hear and unless we’re still, we might miss it.

Remember when the men were in the boat and the storm came along? There was a lesson to learn there too. We can’t control all the circumstances of life but we can trust in the one Who’s in the boat of life with us and know that He never slumbers or sleeps. He doesn’t fall asleep on the job and He hasn’t lost control even when you have. Again, He doesn’t fall off of His throne and promised to never leave nor forsake you. In other words, He won’t turn His back on you or His heart away from you, although you can Him. It’s not that He’s far, He might be closer than He’s ever been and you just don’t know it. Although you can’t see Him, feel Him or touch Him doesn’t mean He’s not there. Just because a cloud hides the moon, sun or stars doesn’t mean that they’re not still there and just as bright and powerful as they ever were. God is the same and He does not change. That’s the only thing we can be assured of and that’s good news.

God is everywhere. He is omnipotent and omnipresence. He knows everything and nothing, none of this takes Him off guard or by surprise, even though it does you. And most of all, He knows them and He knows you. He knows right where you’re at and He’s right there with you. He will hold your hand and guide the way. Whether it’s to teach you a lesson or just to work it out while you wait, or maybe to re-energize you as you plug in. Don’t pull the plug until He has empowered you. You’ll know. Wait.

Here’s what the lady said about the passage in Luke 5:

“In Luke 5, the disciples are using all their energy to catch fish. They were failing miserably. BUT here's something I never noticed about this passage.

The disciples were already on the shore, washing their nets out when Jesus approached them. Then He asked them to push the boat out so He could teach from their boat. They had to sit in the boat where they caught NOTHING while He was teaching!

They sat in the place of failure and disappointment, with nothing to do but be still and listen.

AFTER Jesus was done teaching He told them to cast the nets in for their miraculous catch! WOW!” ~ Viktoriya Lorimer

It doesn’t matter how hard you’ve tried or if you’ve exhausted all efforts. No matter how much you’ve toiled and still caught nothing from His word or instruction. Just be still. The teacher teaches best when we’re most silent and the test of lives are when we’re most silent too. It’s not that He’s left, He’s still right there with you.

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

BUT THEY THAT WAIT upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:30-31

Just plug into God and wait. It’s not only if you wait but how you wait and Who you wait and lean upon.

No matter how frustrated you are, just remember that ‘He never fails’.

Though they had taken nothing, yet Christ told them to let down their nets again. We must not abruptly quit our callings because we have not the success in them we desire. We are likely to speed well, when we follow the guidance of Christ's word. The draught of fishes was by a miracle. - Matthew Henry

Don’t stop. He’s got a miracle waiting for you on the other side of the silence. Wait! Even the winds and the waves obey Him.

Habakuk 2

1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

We gotta have faith! He will see us through. David says , “Yay though…. I walk through.. the valley.” You might be walking through valley but the valley doesn’t stop those who are just passing through….. Yay or even though…… The miracles on the other side of your breakthrough and the breakthrough is on the other side of your obedience and if He’s told you to be still, you can guarantee that He’s coming through. When a Father tells his son to wait, there’s a reason. Trust that even though you don’t know why and you can’t see. Remain confident that the Father has your back and best interest in mind. It’s always for your safety, protection and good. Father knows best: so wait. Until you hear further instruction from The Father, just be still and don’t move. It’s when we move that we get in trouble, so wait. No matter how long that takes.

Take hope in this verse:

“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.”

2 Chronicles 20:17

The Lord of the Universe, Father God, is with you! And He is on your side. For you and with you. We’re gonna see a victory in His time & way. Hold fast. Help is on the way.

“Father God thank You that You’re with us and for us, and looking out for us. May we trust in You, You’re way and Your timing as we wait and hope in You. Amen.
