Speaking blessings.
Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he did not go as at other times, to seek to use sorcery, but he set his face toward the wilderness. Numbers 24:1
When God wants to bless you or someone else, there is nothing that you can do about it! He is God and not a man that He should lie! If He said it, He will do it, that which He sets out to do!!!!! (See Numbers 23:19)
If God be for you, who can be against you!?
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, BUT IT SHALL accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11
I want to be in the direction of God's blessing and not a curse! Don’t put yourself in the way of a curse but in His mercy and grace!!
Balaam was told to bless God's people and Balak begged him to curse them for his own selfish motives. There is nothing, like I said, that you can say or do to stop what God has said and plans to do! Nothing! Better get out of the way! Balaam refused. He refused to curse what God had blessed. He refused to please this man as this man demanded and wished.
“Blessed is he who blesses you, And cursed is he who curses you.” Numbers 24:9
Be a blessing or be cursed!!!
Let’s back up a little bit to Numbers 23:20 and 26.
“Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.” v20
So Balaam answered and said to Balak, “Did I not tell you, saying, ‘All that the LORD speaks, that I must do’?” v26
This game had went on for a while and finally Balaam refused to give in. He no longer needed to prove a point or explain himself. That’s the point we have to get to. We don’t need to try God.
Then Balak’s anger was aroused against Balaam, and he struck his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and look, you have bountifully blessed them these three times! Numbers 24:10
You and I MUST be more concerned about what God says and fear Him, not man! God will have His way and the final say, no matter how mad they get or what anyone says! Bless God!
Now, therefore, flee to your place. I said I would greatly honor you, but in fact, the LORD has kept you back from honor.” Numbers 24:11
Balak’s anger burned and he was furious with Balaam. He thought he’d have the final say. Wrong! Now, he wanted Balaam far out of his sight. He was angry that he wouldn’t succumb to his wishes. His wishes were selfish and against Gods will. He told him to leave at once. To get out of there and to go back home from where he came. He was like a mad kid who don’t get his way and so is the enemy of our soul!
Balak pitched a fit and Balaam refused to give and feed into his wishes. He thought he could promote Balaam to great honor if only he could talk him into playing along. Can you be bought? Will you be swayed?Or do and will you stand firm till the end? Balaam did what God commanded even though it seemed he played Balak’s game for a while. It never turns out good to entertain sin. Run as fast as you can from it and stand up for what is right.
Whatever we choose to do, knowing that it is against God's will put us in direct defiance to and and is disobedience to Him. We may think we get away with some things and we may think that no one sees what we give into, but God sees all.
The fact that Balaam refused to go along with Balak infuriated him. Guess what? When God wants to promote you, no man can demote you! Remember Joseph and David and Daniel and so many others who fought to resist? They stood firm in their faith. They didn’t give in and it eventually panned out IN THE END…. Too many sway and give in so easily…
So Balaam said to Balak, “Did I not also speak (say to you) to your messengers whom you sent to me, saying, ‘If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the LORD, to do good or bad of my own will. What the LORD says, that I must speak’? Numbers 24:12-13
Again, we must fear God and not man. We must live to please Him and keep His commands, or we’re cursed already!!!!
“SEE, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. Deuteronomy 30:15-18
Love God, fear God, obey God, and live blessed.
Or
Turn your hearts away, don’t hear but ignore, be drawn away by your desires and you’ll suffer for it.
Being blessed is being obedient and trusting God to do what you can’t! Wait! He will act. He is God. Nothing goes unnoticed - unblessed or unpunished. He will do what He says! We are His people and He desires to bless us more than we desire to bless our own.
What is the world trying to get you to do? What pull or direction are you being forced into? God doesn’t do that to you! He draws but you must come! He doesn’t force you.
You and I must set out to aim and please God, and we must make up our minds that we’re gonna do what He ask. What He sends us to do! We can’t please God and please man! We must love and bless what God blesses and hate what God hates and curses.
!!!!!? Am I now trying to (persuade) win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10
Dear God, please help us. We need You now more than ever. It can be so hard. The world’s gone mad. Help us to honor, love and bless what You honor, love and bless. Help us to see things and people the way that You do. The enemy wants and tries so hard to distract and destroy us. He wants us to curse others and ourselves. He wants a curse on our lives but the truth is, Jesus died so that we might live blessed. Life’s too short to curse and live under a curse. I want my heart, actions and words to not only bless and honor You, but to align with and Reflect You in all I say and do... Please help my dear brothers and sisters as we fight the temptation to give in. We must choose to speak blessings. In Your name, Jesus, I pray this and blessings, Amen.
