He fights for us

And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 2 Kings 6:16

We need Gods provision and protection.

Have you ever felt like the whole world was against you or maybe it seems that you just don’t have enough resources and it’s much bigger than you? It is! BUT, the good news is: if God is on your side, and He is if you are following Him, then He’s got your back!

In this scripture, Elisha was reminding his servant that it would be ok. The deal was, the servant went out early just to see that there was an enemy army full of horses and chariots that was surrounding the city that they were in. But Elisha had faith eyes to see something different. The next scripture goes on to say:

And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray Thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 2 kings 6:17

They may have been surrounded by enemies but God had an invisible army set up to help them. We see that God’s army was on the mountain; God is sitting high and he sees all. He’s all around us and Nothing escapes His sight. The horses and chariots of fire to me signify Gods Holy Power just as when He appeared to Moses in in the burning bush in Exodus 3. He was preparing Moses for what was about to come and Who He was. God told Moses that He had saw His people’s affliction and the children of Israel’s cry had come to Him; He had come down to deliver them out of the hands of the Egyptians.

These scriptures should encourage and  ensure us that God is with us too. Even though it might seem like the odds are stacked against us, He is for us and He is in favor of His followers. He goes before us and even though we can’t see Him going before us or what He’s doing up ahead, He’s working it all out for our good. We can trust that, because He says so.

This reminds me of the song: “It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by you.” We need to start singing that and getting that truth deep down in into our spirits so we will align with what we believe and not what we see.

(2 Chronicles 20) Another story where God’s people were about to go into battle. Jehoshaphat told the people to believe in God and His prophets so they would be established and prosper. We first must believe. He also consulted the people and appointed those who would sing praises to God. This is the cool part, AS THEY WENT OUT BEFORE the army and AS THEY BEGAN TO SING, the Lord set an ambush against their enemies and they were DEFEATED. They didn’t wait till victory was accomplished, they heeded the advice of their leader to put their trust in God!

He can and wants to do the same for you and me. He’s already conquered the enemy and hell. He sees your faith in action. Your cries come to Him. He sees your difficulty, affliction, and pain. He hears your prayers and your praise. He inhabits our praise. He lives in us but we create such a welcoming environment for Him when we praise and welcome what He wants to do. That’s how we get into the true presence of God when we worship Who He is. He hears and His Spirit becomes evident to us!

And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD:

"LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.” Isaiah 37:16

Here is another example of someone that we see who is desperate and facing a hard time, something they can do nothing about on their own. No matter what we find ourselves facing, God is God and we are not. He’s lifted high. He is God over all the kingdoms of the earth. He made it all, He doesn’t fall off of His throne or lose power to humans. No situation or problem is too big for God. We just gotta believe and be like Elisha and pray for God to open up our eyes to the bigger picture and to believe for His help. We gotta be like Jehoshaphat and put our trust and faith in God. We gotta be like Hezekiah and know that we know God is God alone and it is He Who created it all!

What ever it is that’s against us may be great but Greater is He that is with-in us. This is not just cliche. This is real. If you believe that the very same power of God raised Jesus from the dead, then why do we have such a hard time believing that He can’t do it for us? After all, He sent Jesus to die for us, it wasn’t in vain. He loved us that much. I’m not saying I don’t struggle, I’m just trying to help us grasp the bigger picture of Who God really Is! What lies have we believed? He knows them already, lets expose them for what they are? Do you not really trust God? Do you think you’re not enough? Whatever they are, tell them to God. He can handle it. The truth is what will set you free, the truth of Who He is and what He says.

Yet, we are human; our capabilities are our limited and minds are finite. He is all powerful and infinite. His ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours and His understanding surpasses everything! (Isaiah 55:8) Again, He is God and we are not. He is “I Am” as He told Moses and He’s still The same today. We live in very questionable times, yet He is unshakable, unmovable and unfathomable. That’s why we need God. We can and should be experiencing His glory and power in our lives. We are His people and He is our God.

Like a little boy that faces a bully, he knows his daddy can whip them all and he doesn’t doubt it. Why? Because his daddy is the baddest of them all. Well, let me tell you, my God is the strongest of them all. He’s proved it time after time again and again.

With all that’s going on in this world, a lot of things do seem so far out of our reach and we feel so helpless to do anything about it, but it’s not out of Gods reach or control! He appoints and tears down. Let’s start praying and believing like these men. He is our solution. He has the answer to all my needs. Where could I go but to the Lord? There’s just some things humans can’t fix and that’s a fact but we can trust and obey. In fact, we are commanded to.

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth; its dwellers are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. Isaiah 40:22

I feel like I need to say it again, HE SITS ENTHRONED ABOVE IT ALL because He is enthroned on High. He sees it all from Gods eye view. We only see what’s present and what seems factual but He sees the real facts and we can trust what He’s about to do. He still works suddenly’s, every single day!!!!

O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. 2 Chronicles 20:12

Will you pray that He will open up your spiritual eyes to see and will you open your heart to trust Him and get your mind on His power? Then the problem won’t seem so big.

I love the song “How great Thou art”. It’s a beautiful song and when we stop to think about how He just slung the stars into existence, hung the galaxy, formed a new born baby, or even how He causes the birds to sing - It hushes our thoughts because what can we say to that but, WOW! As my mom use to sing, “I come to the garden alone” - “He speaks, and the sound of his voice is so sweet The birds hush their singing.

Let’s take time to stop and look at Gods creation; remember that He is Creator God and to try to fathom all of His goodness. We won’t be able to but it will bring us closer to Him. His creation is excellent and magnificent even though we take it for granted everyday. Breath itself is amazing. I’m not in any way discounting any of our problems but I am calling out HOW GREAT OUR GOD IS. Have we forgotten?

Here is a few lyrics to how great thou art :

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,

Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.

When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur

And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Get alone somewhere today so you can reflect on how awesome He is and His goodness!

****”When I in awesome wonder when I consider all the works thy hands have made!”*****

So let’s go ahead and declare:”I’m gonna SEE a a victory for the battle Belongs to You Lord. Open my spiritual to see what You see and give me insight to what You are doing. I give you the reins and the Reign of my life. I admit, I’m hopeless Without You.

Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only. Isaiah 37:20

He can save like  no other. Don’t take your eyes off of Him.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. Nahum 1:7

He isn’t far off. He is close to all of us, even when we don’t feel it. Yes, He is present with those who trust Him.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1
