Let the Son-Shine in
Lord, Expose what is dark and unclean in me.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
As I️ was cleaning house recently, a revelation knowledge came to me. The power had went off in our house, my son was sleeping and for some reason I️ decided that I️ needed to sweep the floor. (Yep, clean while the power was out.) So, I️ opened up the blinds and there it was: DUST and it was EVERYWHERE!
Even though the lights were off, the natural light of the sun was shining in through the blinds and it exposed it ALL! The dust was amplified..... way more than the man made lights could have ever amplified it.
I️ realized that this is what God wants to do in our lives. He wants us to open up the windows of our souls in order to let The "Son" shine in. He stands at the door and knocks. We must open up and invite Him in to allow Him to shine in and clean up house. He must first expose what is unclean in us, to do what we cannot do on our own. Only the Son-Light can reveal that which we cannot see.
I️ love the song Clean, by Natalie Grant. “There's NOTHING too dirty, that You can't make worthy. You wash me in Mercy, I️ am clean”…….
See, it's not what we can do, but it is what The Holy Spirit can and will do in us if we will just allow The Son-Light in. We can try but we can't clean ourselves up. It may last for a while but it won't stick. It's not our own righteousness that causes us to be clean, it's His Righteousness in us. We can never be righteous apart from Him.
We are clean in Him, washed by His blood and By His stripes, we are healed.
God is Good.... God is Truth....and Gods Glorious Light Reveals Truth.
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.God hates sin. He doesn't want it to linger in us because He knows the damage that it will do to us. We are His glorious creation and His light exposes what is dark in us so that we can be cleaned up by The Holy Spirt. The truth is that He loves us way too much to let us stay that way: dirty, sinful and unclean. 1 John 1:5-10
This is not to embarrass us and He doesn't want to shame or condemn us. He didn't come to condemn or to point fingers, He came to save. John 3:16 -21 will never get old, He loves us so much.... He came to do the work that we couldn't do on our own. It's not so that the world can see our dirty but to allow us to individually to see what He already knows. He wants to shape and mold us so that we can be more like Him. He loves us and Nothing could be more untrue than to think that we are too dirty and that God is ashamed of us.
Don't run from the light and go deeper into your shame. Run to the light and be changed.
Once His Light is in us, we can then "be lighthouses" to others because we are letting His Light shine in and through us.
Open up today & let the Son-Shine in. Today is a good day to be free. Ask Him to expose anything that's unclean in you. Ask Him to clean you up and to do the work in you that He wants to do. Cooperate with Him. Anything that He ask you to do, do it. You won't regret it. You can be sure that it's for a good cause because He's good and His plans are too.
"Jesus, EnLighten what is dark in me. Change me. Clean me up and Make me who You want me to be. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, in me. Use me for Your good and Your glory.”
One of my students just last week in Sunday school class gave me a great reminder of this fact. It started with my niece teaching a lesson, she started off with a game that consisted of taking a flashlight apart and making the other students find the missing pieces. The next week our preachers son had taken that same flashlight apart and tried to shine the light without the mirror or reflector. The light didn't shine outward and didn't appear as bright without it. The source of light is a bulb that shines outward with this mirror attached. It reminded me that Jesus is the source of our light and without Him, we can't be reflectors. We are mirrors of His love. The mirror is a reflector so that the light from the bulb can be directed outward. We house his light like a flashlight and we reflect His light so that we can shine it out to this dark world.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!!!!
You are salt of the earth (you are what gives the world its flavor.)
You are "The Light" of the world (a light in the dark).
A city on a hill cannot be hidden (you are a city on a hill, you are meant to stand out and shine bright, His light. You can't hide what He's made bright)
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good deeds and then Praise and Glorify Your Heavenly Father that's in you. Derived from Matthew 5:13-16
This can be done, once you let His light in!
Maybe His light has already entered in but you have not used it and it's became dull. Ask Him to refill and recharge you. If you feel your salt has become flavorless, Ask God to give you the saltiness back. It's not done apart from Him. Invite Him back in to have His way in your life. He loves you.
Father, help us, expose in us what you want to make clean. We can’t do it without You or Your light. Shine! In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Read John 3:16-21 for yourself. We often stop at verse 16 and miss some of the most important parts. He loves you and died for you while you were yet still in your sin so that you might be made whole.
