God is with-in you
God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day. Psalm 46:5
God is with us. We need to know that. If He is for us, who in this world can be against us? It’s only because of Him that we can stand.
I love this verse. It is not only inspiring but also reminds and gives me a new sense of power by being reminded that the very God of the universe, that created me, is living on the inside of me! And if you know Him, He’s within you too!
The KJV says that “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.” In the midst means in the interior or central part of, or the condition of being surrounded. This is why we don’t have to fear! This is why we won’t be moved. He is our very present helper. He doesn’t stand from a far and watch, He is with-in and He is surrounding us. I love the word within because to me it says, with and in. He is with and in us!! That’s good news. He is Our refuge and our strength and He is ever present. He doesn’t come and go.
The scriptures say that ‘though’ the earth gives way and the mountains shake into the midst of the sea.....’though’ the waters roar and foam and the mountains tremble.....
So, despite the fact that or although lots of things are going on, '“There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.” verse 4. That place is within me and you. There is a river, a river of life, His Spirit flowing through us.
There is a calm in that, knowing that ‘even though’ everything around us can be turned upside down, it never changes or erases the fact that God is for and within us. That is if we trust and have put our trust in Him!
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Psalm 91:7
He tells even the winds and waves what to do and they obey. That very same God is watching over you and I. That’s why He asked the fishermen on the boat the night of the storm, “Why are you so fearful, o ye of little faith?” They were frantic, and Jesus was asleep (yet God never sleeps). They were waking him up and telling Him to save them or they were going to drown! “Hurry!”, in other words! “What are you doing????”
God isn’t sleeping. Just the opposite in fact. He wants us to know that we can trust Him. He is very aware of what’s going on around us. So like the disciples (which we are called to be), we must learn to trust Him. We must ask ourselves, “self, why are you so fearful and why are you so frantic?” Ought not we have more faith in God who created the sea, the world and all that’s within it? Ought we not have more faith than fear. I’ve learned that not only one can rule, but also that the one that we give the most attention to, is really the one we trust. He’s on the boat of life with us. He’s in the midst of us and whatever unsteadiness we go may through. He is not caught off guard or taken by surprise. He is awake and aware. Just one word and He can stop it all but we have something to learn and grow through in these times. One things for certain, He’s not shaken by it.
The disciples were amazed at how Jesus just calmed the storm. He is right here for us just as He was with them. He is the Master of the sea and the Silencer of what’s going on inside of me! Though the storms rage around you, He is with you, even if it seems He is asleep.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. Psalm 121:1-4
HE DOESN’T SLUMBER (doze off) NOR SLEEP! He won’t allow you to be moved by all that seems to surround you. We will not be shaken!
It may be time that we be still and know that He is God. He is the one who is to be exalted. We ought not give all of our attention to what’s going on around us, but instead to the God within us. Peter began to walk on water until he took his eyes off of Jesus and got them onto the waves. Our eyes and thoughts are our own responsibility and we must train them to trust and stay on Jesus. Only He can keep us in perfect peace when our thought are stayed on Him. Why? Because we trust Him. That’s what it takes.
And though these things take place.... though bad things are going on... though it seems the world is falling apart and crumbling, the good news is: GOD HASN’T EVER AND WILL NEVER FALL OFF OF HIS THRONE.
We can’t be still and know and get into the truth of what’s inside, if we are frantic, looking all around, and fearing more than trusting. It’ll get the best of us. NO! We must exalt God. We must lift Him high. Not the world. Not what’s in it. Not the problems, and not what’s going on all around us. We must exalt and focus on Him. We extinguish fear only with faith. We must recenter and refocus on the fact that God, The Lord of hosts IS WITH US!
The very same GOD and His very same POWER that raised Jesus is living on the inside of us. We have RESURRECTION POWER living on the inside!!! And sometimes we don’t even know it! If you have forgotten, it’s time to be still and know.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Psalm 46:11
He hasn’t lost power. He’s still here. You must get your eyes, hope and trust back on Jesus. He won’t fail you and He wont let you fall and He wont allow you to be moved. He will help you and early, at the break of dawn. The darkest hour is just before dawn. Weeping may endure for a night (season) but joy, it comes in the morning! Don’t give up, look up and look within, He is with you, all around you.
Let this encourage you today and cause you to rejoice and praise! We have reason to sing, He is here.
Lord, let this be our song, praise, and hope that we lift up to You today:
Lyrics to “Way Maker”
You are here
Moving in our midst
I worship You
I worship You
You are here
Working in this place
I worship You
I worship You
And You are
Way maker, miracle worker
Promise keeper, light in the darkness
My God, that is who You are
